This European style of judging provides a written critique of each dog and how the judge feels the dog conforms to the breed standard. After the critique session, the judge evaluates the dogs against the other dogs in the ring much like at a regular AKC show. While no points are awarded toward their AKC Champion Title, it is a nice exercise for breeders and show families to hear how the judges felt about their dogs. A dog needs to receive a “Very Excellent” rating at 3 shows and by 3 different judges to earn the International Champion Title.

Misty, Wills and Emma AKC Match Results

Misty20150920_131614cr Wills20150920_134613cr Emma20150920_131355crIt was a HOT HOT HOT time at the Silver Bay Kennel Club AKC Sanctioned All Breed Match this weekend. The Bichons were represented by the Hollyhock Bichon youngsters with Deb Gibb, Linda Rowe and Jr. Handler Mara Hughes taking them in the ring.

Misty (Scarlets In The Midst Of Hollyhock), took WB and BOB and Group 1/Best in Match for the Sand to Sea Non-Sporting Association show. Then Wills (Hollyhock Heir To The Throne) took BOB and a Group 2 in the Silver Bay All Breed competition. Miss Emma (Shyladawns Hollyhock Ode To Chaminade) took home ribbons for Best Opposite and first in her class.

It was a HOT and HUMID outing, but a good chance for us to see what we need to work on with these little ones.  They all seemed to enjoy the outing.

It looks like she may have overcome her confidence issues under her new handling team! Looking good with that tail up Dee Dee!

Dee Dee made her conformation debut at the 2014 Bichon Frise Club of San Diego Specialty where she was Best in Sweepstakes at the age of 6 months. Since then she has been shown sporadically with co-owner Deb Gibb on the lead. She has both majors as well as some singles. In addition she has earned her International Championship title. We anticipate this spirited and strong willed girl has only blue ribbons in her future and will soon complete her AKC Champion and Grand Champion titles

Holly at 4 years old, pregnant, and posing for her Pictorial photo.

Holly marks the return of Hollyhock to the show ring. She finished quickly at the age of 17 months with 9 wins in a row. After a short hiatus from the ring, Holly returned and completed her AKC Grand Championship and International Champion title shown by her co-owner Deb Gibb. Now retired to the whelping box, she has proven to be as talented there as she was in the show ring. Look for her babies in the ring in the months to come.

Hollyhock welcomes Emma

Emma_9wksArrives20150111_152637cThis was a historical day for Hollyhock as they welcome “Emma“, SHYLADAWN’S HOLLYHOCK ODE TO CHAMINADE to the family. The product of an amazing mommy and daddy, Emma brings the beauty and grace of Shyladawn’s Garbo (GCH CH SHYLADAWN’S TIMELESS BEAUTY) and the old breeding lines from Barbara Stubbs (Chaminade) and Lois Morrow (Chamour) in her daddy, Beemer (CH CHAMINADE LE BLANC CHAMOUR). Even at 8 weeks, it was clear that this girl has it “going on”.
