For a first time mommy, Dee Dee took the entire event in stride, delivering her 2 girls and 2 boys right on time and in only a couple of hours. Everyone is active and strong and nursing well. They have had their initial wellness check and are now resting and gaining weight.
As you follow their litter diary we will post their photos in the order they were born. Pink Girl, Red Boy, Yellow Girl, and Black Boy. As of this morning everyone weighed in at 7 ounces, except for Yellow Girl who is 5 and a half ounces. Pink Girl is an expert at nursing…and seems to eat more than she sleeps. Red Boy seems to like to wander around in the playpen already. Black Boy gave us a little challenge during the delivery and came out feet first. Yellow girl is smaller but “pushy” and has no trouble finding her food source.
We will post weekly updates on their Litter Diary web page.
It was a stormy weekend at the Apple Valley Kennel Club shows in Victorville, CA, but Wills and Misty represented the breed well and took home the class prizes both days. We thank Allan Chambers and his handling team for getting these two youngsters “in the groove”.

Congratulations to “Emma” (Shyladawn’s Hollyhock Ode To Chaminade) for getting her first points toward her Champion title. Emma was Winner’s Bitch at the Peninsula Dog Fanciers Club shows in Bremerton, Washington on Sunday.
Handled by Shyla Newton, her breeder, Emma made her debut in the Northwest and it was her first time in the show ring with Shyla. She is learning the ropes and will continue to gain confidence with each opportunity.
Congratulations also to Shyla who took Best of Breed with “Elise” (CH Shyladawn’s Dream Maker Heartbreaker) on Saturday and finished the weekend with two majors toward her GCH title. Pretty special for a 14 month old girl.
Congratulations to WILLS (Hollyhock Heir To The Throne) and a BIG THANKS to his handlers, Haemi Choi and Allan Chambers, for presenting him so beautifully at the Del Sur Kennel Club shows in Valley Center, California on March 19-20, 2016.
Wills beat all the class boys and girls and earned two 4 point Majors. He is halfway to his AKC Champion title with these wins. It will be a weekend to remember for sure!

Congratulations to our Miss Emma for attaining her International Champion title this past weekend. The judges critiques used words like “nice front carriage” and “beautiful movement” and “elegant”. Not bad for a 16 month old girl.

Well, these little ones decided to come a few days early, but by the size of them, they were ready! Holly and Wills created four robust and very active babies on 12/29/15, 1 boy and 3 girls, each weighing between 6 and 7 ounces. Holly is in her element and just loves being a mommy. Momma Linda served as the master whelper with Deb at the ready taking direction as needed and keeping records. Rod Stewart serenaded the event with music from his The Great American Songbook albums. We will post more photos and videos when we create this litter’s special web page later this week.
It was the second time in the conformation ring with the “big kids” for Wills and Misty as they spent 4 days at the Shoreline and Malibu Kennel Club dog shows.
All in all, they did okay, with Wills taking home Winner’s Dog on two days and Reserve Winner’s Dog the other two days.
Little Misty took home Reserve Winner’s Bitch two days. She is a small girl compared to her competition but she certainly has the right conformation and attitude.
It was a beautiful day in the park for the Del Sur Kennel Club’s AKC Sanctioned B Match this past weekend and the Bichon Frise Club of San Diego made a nice contribution with 6 youngsters in attendance, all handled by their proud owners.
Everyone took home a ribbon and seemed to have fun. Brother and sister team of Misty and Wills of Hollyhock Bichons took BOB and BOS respectively and Misty took home an extra ribbon for a Group 2.
Taking their young bichons in the ring were (left to right in the photo):
Monica Dibbern with 9 month old Riley
Ann Tartaul with 5 month old Sam
Linda Rowe with 15 month old Wills
Debbi Zacharzuk with 17 month old Lily
Deb Gibb with 15 month old Misty and 1 year old Emma.
Sandy Fishell (mommy to GCH Betsy Ross) was on hand helping to juggle armbands and hold dogs and Haemi Choi (Master Groomer) was only steps away with scissors in hand for last minute grooming touch ups…go figure!

It was a fun weekend with Misty and Wills as they made their debut in the Conformation ring at the City of Industry shows. While they did not bring home their first points, it was a great experience for them and we were proud at how they handled themselves on the table for the judges and all around the ring with the more seasoned bichons. We will pace ourselves with them. At only 15 months, they are still just babies…but they seem to like it, so they will be fun to show, especially as they mature.
Wills was in the Open Dog class with his brother Rowdy and another more mature boy presented by Paul Flores. It was a tough show, but Wills took home Reserve Winner’s Dog both days and that made his handler, Linda, very very proud.
Misty was in the Open Bitch class, handled by Deb with “bookends” of beautiful 3 and 4 year old girls presented by Paul Flores and Trey Pittman. Misty placed 3rd.
Congratulations to Dee Dee
IntCH CH Hollyhock Dazzle And Delight
for being recognized by the Bichon Frise Club of America for having achieved “Exemplary Bichon Frise Health”, having passed a battery of health exams and registering her results with the OFA.
We are looking forward to Dee Dee carrying on the mission of Hollyhock Bichons by breeding beautiful, healthy bichons.
